How is your summer going so far?

/ June 13, 2011I lived in Alaska from 7/80 to 7/94. Went through Tok 2x. We started in Juneau, then moved to Anchortown. The SAD finally got to me, had to move before I really put the bullets in the gun.
I get homesick for the mountains and the wildlife all the time. Pictures of the Alaska range or Denali make my eyes water. Saw an article about a stay at home dad in Anchorage a few years ago. A lot of it on what he was growing in the back yard garden. The global climate changes hit me really hard. He was growing vegetables in the garden that no one could try without a greenhouse when I was there. Peas, lettuce, kale family and a few beans. The moose ate my flowers and one of the flowering bushes in the front yard.
We have 300 days or so of sunshine in Denver Metro. I miss the rain. Loved the Juneau mists. Summer in Anchorage: 65 – 67 degrees, overcast, chance of light showers.
Thanks for the memories, enjoy the great wilderness.
