The guys from What’s Your Impossible are headed from Anchorage through Tok sometime in April.
Who are these guys and what are they up to? Here’s some info from their site.
On this expedition, Diego , John and Patricio will cycle for over 6000 miles across the US and Mexico on a tandem starting in Alaska. Rasha will accompany them riding in a trailer attached to the back of the bicycle. Upon reaching the southern tip of Baja, Diego will swim 180 miles across the Sea of Cortés to Mazatlan. From there they will continue cycling 1600 miles across Mexico, finishing at the Yucatan peninsula. From there, Diego will embark on a 420 mile swim across the Gulf of Mexico in his specially-designed XTERRA wetsuit, finishing at Key West, Florida.
As part of their training regime for their upcoming odyssey, Diego, John and Rasha have summited three of the highest peeks along the pacific coast of the United States setting records for being the first team with a blind person and a guide dog.
The purpose of their endeavors is to raise awareness about global climate change, and to document the effects of pollution. In addition to their environmental goals, the trio hopes to inspire young people to become active and to reach their aspirations regardless of any physical or mental impediment or how impossible the goal might seem.
Who says nothing exciting happens in Tok?
Of course, this pales in comparison to next week’s Pinewood Derby happening at Tok School More on that event to come!
UPDATE: Just heard from Diego that their ETA in Tok is now early May. Stay tuned!
