These Guys Are My New Heros

January 2, 2009 · 2 Comments

I was wondering what temperatures might be like in Antarctica and what the affects of that kind of cold might be. These guys do a great job answering some of my burning questions.

And the temps, BTW, are more than 70 and 80 below zero. I’m guessing they are speaking Farenheit but either way, that’s freaking cold.

Even colder than Tok in winter.

But then again. It is Antarctica.

Errr…This is Also How People Dress in Tok

January 2, 2009 · 6 Comments

I thought I was going to see some ridiculously extreme outerwear in this video, but this is the stuff everyone here in Tok wears, too. I recognize those white boots. Gotta ask where they got them.

Tok Weather Forecast on Weather Underground

January 2, 2009 · 2 Comments

I’ve been told that Weather Underground is the best source of Tok weather updates. Most other sites tend to show Tok is warmer than it actually is. For example, Weather.com says:

-29°F
Feels Like
-45°F

But on Weather Underground it says:

-47.0 °F
Partly Cloudy
Windchill: -47 °F

Of course, at our house, the thermometer is still set right at -60 since that is as far as it goes. I am now searching for a thermometer that will show even colder temps.

And for next week, things are looking even…DRUMROLL PLEASE…colder…
